Jacquelyn A. Close, RA, is one of fewer than 150 Registered Aromatherapists in North America. She is a member of the National Association of Holistic Aromatherapists (NAHA) and the International Aromatherapy Association (IAA). Her introduction to essential oils occurred in 1995, in a small herb shop (Cheryl’s Herbs) in St. Louis, Missouri, where -- in less than three minutes --Jacqui experienced the complete cessation of her chronic and debilitating allergy symptoms. That literally opened her eyes to the power of therapeutic grade essential oils, and she immediately began an intensive study of essential oils, purchasing every book, attending every educational program and seminar she could find, and trying oils from many different companies. After completing years of hands-on training, she turned her attention to sharing with others the powerful information she had gleaned from her studies about the safe use of pure, healing, therapeutic grade essential oils.
Jacqui has had more than 1,000 hours education in the use and application of essential oils. She has completed more than 300 hours (1999-2004) in training with D. Gary Young, ND, an internationally recognized authority on essential oils and aromatherapy, organic farming practices, essential oil distilling, production, and blending, and the originator of Raindrop Technique. She has more than 500 hours in training with David Stewart, PhD, DNM, IASP, and President of CARE (the Center for Aromatherapy Research and Education). She served as a member of the CARE faculty, 2001-2006, and was a Fully Certified CARE Instructor (FCCI) from 2005-2006. In 2006, she completed 100 hours in training with Linda L. Smith, RN, MS, Certified Clinical Aromatherapist (CCA), and President of the Institute of Spiritual Healing and Aromatherapy (ISHA). In addition to her passion for learning about essential oils, Jacqui also served as President of Close Environmental Consultants, 1997-2005, EJC Enterprises, 2005-present, and as the Director of the Conscious Healing Institute, a health and wellness center, 2001-2006. She has taught classes and seminars through the Continuing Education Department at Southeast Missouri State University and throughout North America (2001-present). Jacqui became a Registered Aromatherapist (RA) in 2001.
Jacqui and Ed began looking at complimentary and alternative health options when she had cervical cancer in 1985 and was given less than two months to live. Prayer, meditation, and the use of positive-healing affirmations brought the cancer into remission. When God brought essential oils into Jacqui’s life, in 1995, she felt driven to learn as much as possible about them and credits essential oils for keeping her cancer-free. She says everything in her life has been preparation for the work God had planned for her: teaching and sharing information about the benefits of essential oils and touching people’s lives with a message of healing and hope. This work has given her more joy than she could ever have imagined.
Ed and Jacqui Close have been married more than thirty years. They currently reside in Southeast Missouri, and have one son, daughter-in-law and grandson who live nearby. Since October, 2005, they have devoted a large portion of their time to research, teaching, writing, and speaking about their discovery that essential oils offer a new, non-toxic, eco-friendly option that reduces and often eliminates the risks posed to health and property by mold.
